PYLOT x Free Range 2019

Following on from last years successful Free Range open call exhibition, we were invited back in 2019. The theme for the exhibition was: “Combatting waste; our steps towards a more eco-conscious society”. Out of the many excellent submissions, three open call winners were chosen: Sayuri Ichida, Samira Kafala, and Andrea Urbez, with their work being displayed on the walls of The Truman Brewery.

We were proud to present our first ever zine which accompanied the exhibition and followed the same theme. The zine was created by the team at PYLOT and featured our open call winners alongside commissioned contributors such as Henry Gorse, Alex Colley, Becca Jones, Rebecca Jones, and Fumi Homma. Chloe Solomon and Elle Perkins constructed a sculpture that spanned the length of the gallery’s glass wall, the breathing body of waste plastic served as a looming reminder of the crisis that we face, due to our relationship with plastic.

As part of the event, a collage workshop was held by sustainable fashion designer, ELLISS, using some of the techniques that influence her own designs. Examples of some of the work produced can be seen below.

We are thankful to our generous sponsors, Digitalab, Original Photo Paper, Kodak Alaris, Parallax, Camden Town Brewery, Pocketful of Stones Gin, and Free Range. Without their help, none of this would have been possible.
