Organised as an initiative by Centro de Inteligência Têxtil, the event materialised from a desire to debate the future of international fashion. The conference allowed a panel of fashion representatives to have a discussion about design and sourcing in Europe. Meanwhile, the ModaPortugal Showcase exhibited fashion and footwear labels and designers from across the continent.
Also part of the event was the ModaPortugal competition which featured 33 young designers from 8 countries. Judged by industry professionals, each designer was required to present their work in a bid to be selected for awards including ‘Best Fashion Collection’ and ‘Best Footwear Collection’. In addition to the competition winners, several fashion companies were also recognised for their achievements in categories including Sustainability, Social Responsibility and Technological Innovation.
PYLOT’s Editor-in-Chief Max Barnett and Fashion Director Patricia Villirillo visited ModaPortugal to document both the event and Porto, a city which proudly supports the creative industries.
