Shot last summer in California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona, photographer Federico Sorrentino wanted to capture “the beautiful light, the beautiful landscape and the beautiful warm colours that the West Coast can give.”

Talking about the origins of the series, Sorrentino explains: “I always dreamed of travelling across the West Coast of the US since I was a kid, I always thought it was a magical place to go. My imagination was inspired over the years by the NBA basketball (I used to play basketball); by the movies, especially ‘Lords of Dogtown’; by the US hip-hop culture, and by amazing photographers such as Joel Meyerowitz, Stephen Shore, Ansel Adams, and Robert Frank, to name a few, who show the real America through their beautiful photographs. I think the American spirit is something you can feel through colours and lights, and the cars represent the attitude of the US through different eras and tastes.”
