Anonymity: the condition of being anonymous. A pertinent issue some would say thanks to the recent celebrity photo hacks and incessant paparazzi’s that line the streets of the world’s fashion cities in September, and as ever, popular culture – if you can call it that – seeped into J.W. Anderson’s SS15 show like blood into the vein.

Giant sunhats shielded the faces of the models and many of the silhouettes were non-descript. That’s not to say they weren’t detailed though. Mismatched buttons, nautical stripes and rope-like nuances all pointed to the sea, a pair of wide-leg sailor trousers and to-the-thigh two-tone wrap skirts, cementing the vibe.

His appointment as creative director of Loewe and backing by the powerhouse that is LVMH goes a long way to explain the extensive use of leather in this collection. An oft-cumbersome material made as light as air and as soft as butter: Typical J.W. Anderson.

A navy pencil skirt and contrasting black T-shirt will walk off the shelves. So too those leather-collared shirts and tailored dresses – and what of the rest? The hats are a given but the ruched corset belts that added definition to the blown-up proportions had must-have written all over them.
